I think you are partially correct that the election was a rejection of the elite when it comes to university. I do think that this was exasperated by covid and the loss of trust in the elite educated class. It was also a problem where the educated class has forgotten how to communicate with or even a desire to communicate with what they classify as the lower class. This is has really shown the disdain maybe between the classes and drove a wedge.
